This propaganda is false

* wapo:
"Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist signaled yesterday that he and other White House allies will filibuster a bill dealing with the interrogation and prosecution of detainees if they cannot persuade a rival group of Republicans to rewrite key provisions opposed by President Bush."
hysterical.

* oldschool's preznit speaks:
"Some have argued that the democratic changes we're seeing in the Middle East are destabilizing the region.

This argument rests on a false assumption: that the Middle East was stable to begin with.

The reality is that the stability we thought we saw in the Middle East was a mirage."
* and speaks again:
"Imagine what it's like to be a young person living in a country that is not moving toward reform. You're 21 years old, and while your peers in other parts of the world are casting their ballots for the first time, you are powerless to change the course of your government."
* and speaks again:
"Today I'd like to speak directly to the people across the broader Middle East.

My country desires peace. Extremists in your midst spread propaganda claiming that the West is engaged in a war against Islam.

This propaganda is false and its purpose is to confuse you and justify acts of terror."

This reminds me of liar's paradox: the Cretan Epimenides who said "Cretans are all liars."

lukery said...

so does that mean that Epimenides was saying that all... hang on - no wait - did he mean - no, wait. how does...

jeebus - i wish the president had the mental acuity to actually PRONOUNCE 'paradox' - i wouldnt dare hope that he could actually comprehend what it meant

this entire thing, w/his 'speeches' or whatever being trumpeted all over as if he has something new to say, is totally making me SICK.

sick enough 'do' things.

he brought us something new last time he was at the UN

"dear condi - may i pee?"

Stop making fun of pee permissions already - The Decider has to make scores of decisions of national and global importance, plus some that are historical and/or biblical in their scale.

You can't except him to do such micromanaging as his toilet schedule too, he has secretaries, aides and secret service for that.

(Heard on White House: "Dick! I signed that doubleplus-interrogation bill, am I now allowed to get something to eat?")

lol - if it was any other president, he'd have been laughed into the history books.

I've been spending most all my brain power the past couple days thinking about what to do. I could fizzle my circuit breakers doing this. Sorry I haven't been reading. It looks like you have some kick ass topics. I promise I'll write an essay. I also promise I'll clean up my house, once and for all. I'm working on that now. Meanwhile, if you have any especially daunting decisions to make, this site can help you.

there comes a time to go back to war, now doesn't there?

each in their own way, in their own time. it's a big step to go from 'never again' to 'maybe' - and i imagine the next step is even more biggerer.

g'luck.

best of luck, oldschool.

personally, i don't mind when anyone calls him 'my preznit.'

what i DO mind is when they say 'my/your president.'

cuz he's NOT. neither mine nor anyone else's.

ps, my word verification is bshbu. that's how i used to do shorthand in offices--leave out the vowels. now everyone does it in txtng, which is cool.

but bshbu? LMAO!

oldschool;

Ever do Constitutional law and civil rights stuff? That's kind of heady.
