I love Republicans, and if they lose I'll be fine!

* Bruce Reed:
So, the president has a choice: He can eat crow now, or eat it later. While the crow might seem harder to choke down now, if Bush waits until after the election, there may be far more of it to swallow.

To be sure, the one thing harder than getting George Bush to apologize would be deciding where to start.
* via atrios:
Most worrisome for the president, should the Democrats retake one or both houses of Congress, the American public supports their proposed “First 100 Hours” agenda. An overwhelming majority says allowing the government to negotiate lower drug prices directly with pharmaceutical companies should be a top priority for a Democratic Congress (74 percent, including 70 percent of Republicans); 68 percent want increasing the minimum wage to be a top priority, including 53 percent of Republicans; 62 percent want investigating impropriety by members of Congress to be a top priority; and 58 percent want investigating government contracts in Iraq to be a top priority. Fifty-two percent say investigating why we went to war in Iraq should be a top priority (25 percent say it should a lower priority and 19 percent say it shouldn’t be done.)

* billmon:
"Maybe the tide will carry Sestak's ship into port nonetheless, but at this point I wouldn't write Weldon off -- politically I mean.

Legally, however, I don't think Weldon's got long to live, even if he does eke out a victory next month. Prosectors don't usually empanel grand juries, order up wiretaps and send the FBI to haul documents out of private homes and corporate offices unless they have fairly strong evidence to begin with. At this point, I'd personally put Curt's chances of avoiding indictment at only 1 in 4, and maybe much lower. And if he's indicted in Washington D.C., and not up here among his homies, the chances of Curt ultimately going to jail -- or at least copping a plea -- are probably fair to middling."

funny. if you like laughing at the idiot son.

* peggynoonan:
" John McCain can dance. In one week he wowed college kids on "Hardball," bopped Hillary Clinton, and announced that if Republicans lose Congress he'll "commit suicide." Translation: I love Republicans, and if they lose I'll be fine!"
(i'm not joking)

* barney frank on bill maher. yay. vid.

* frank rich via jen:
"Things have gotten so bad for the Republicans that were President Bush to unveil Osama bin Laden’s corpse in the Rose Garden, some reporter would instantly check to see if his last meal had been on Jack Abramoff’s tab."
