Promising not to impeach ..,.

* laura:
"NRO's James Robbins: "My guess is that any high ranking official at DOD who was around in 2003 is going to be spending most of the time getting ready for hearings, investigations, maybe worse. The more recent appointees at the top four or so levels may avoid the worst of it, though they too will be kept busy. But those on hand for the Iraq invasion are going to be facing non-stop Congressional interrogations. I suppose we'll see an exodus from the Building shortly.""
* kathleen:
"I'm trying to make myself happy about the gains, but bummed about Lamont, a real lost opportunity, and bummed about Pelosi buying into Rove's bullshit about impeachmenbt being "getting even". It is not. It is about justice. How Dems expect Americans to continue to respect the rule of law when the biggest criminals don't get punished amazes me. If Dems let those bastards get away with this, they'll have to win next time without me. It is extremely naive for Dems to expect the NeoNutzis to be bipartisan. It takes two to tango, Nancy, and the NeoNutzis only want to slam dance. Promising not to impeach is setting yourself up to be made a laughinstock. Sure Dopey will sound like he'll do what you want, to keep you from cooking his sorry ass, but he'll drag his veto pen out everytime, only it'll be too late. The only language GOPers understand is self interest, so the ONLY way you'll get him to do anything is to threaten his chickshit ass. But you just don't get it. You'll make nice with a mass murderer just not to look vengeful. Stooooopid."

* delong:
"One way to look at last night's election is that the implicit gerrymandering of the Senate and the in-the-tank-ness of the press corps are keeping people from realizing how big the blowout was. Consider this: it looks like 32 (million) Americans voted for Democratic Senatorial candidates, and only 24 (million) Americans voted for Republican Senatorial candidates."

* FOX screen text: Dow closes at all-time high despite turmoil in washington

* Glenn:
"The basic mechanics of American democracy, imperfect and defective though they may be, still function. Chronic defeatists and conspiracy theorists — well-intentioned though they may be — need to re-evaluate their defeatism and conspiracy theories in light of this rather compelling evidence which undermines them (a refusal to re-evaluate one's beliefs in light of conflicting evidence is a defining attribute of the Bush movement that shouldn't be replicated)."

* if i'm not mistaken, Blinky lied last week when he said that he'd keep Rummy forever becuase he didn't want get involved in the election. his decision to lie apparently triggered the 'Rummy must go' editorials in the Military Times - which might have helped the republicans lose the election. sweet.
