It would also need a different leader than the limited Bush who has not yet learnt that he can be crossed. His insincerity is manifest and so is his focus on his re-election....
But if US soldiers keep getting killed in Iraq — more than 50 have died since Bush declared end of major hostilities — and if Iraq keeps getting buffeted by local waves of Islamic orthodoxy and plain looting, Bush will have a fair amount of explaining to do.
