The meanies justify the ends.
Now, in what has to rank as one of the more amazing things in this amazing story, it turns out that the CIA itself had not seen the actual documents on which the Niger claim was based at the time of the State of the Union address. The Bush Administration had been relying on these documents for months, and they were still being used in January to back up the State of the Union claim, but no one had bothered to show them to the CIA! The Cheney-Rumsfeld plan to isolate the Office of Special Plans lie-producing sausage factory from the CIA had been completely successful, and the CIA was forced to vet the State of the Union address, and to take the complete blame for the lie, without being allowed to see the main documents on the issue in the possession of the Bush Administration.
As for why the US provides military aid to Israel, Middle East scholar, Professor Stephen Zunes of the University of San Francisco, claims: this aid is little more than an American subsidy to U.S. arms manufacturers, considering that the majority of it must be used to buy weapons from the U.S. Moreover, arms to Israel increase demand for weaponry in the Arab states. The Israelis announced back in 1991 that they supported the idea of a freeze in Middle East arms transfers. It was the United States that rejected it.
The man in charge of NORAD on September 11 was Ralph Eberhart, who is also the general in charge of the weaponization of space. While the weaponization of space is rocket science, figuring out what's going on here isn't.
Ronald Reagan, supporter of the Taliban: 'The resistance of the Afghan freedom fighters is an example to all the world of the invincibility of the ideals we in this country hold most dear, the ideals of freedom and independence.'
I don't understand why El-Al is immune from terrorism. Even air marshalls and proper inspection of baggage would not stop a group of determined suicide-terrorists. Could it be that El-Al is immune from terrorism due to an 'understanding' between the terrorist cells and the Mossad that the Mossad won't pursue and destroy the terrorist cells provided that the cells avoid actions involving El-Al?

Dear Google:
I am e-mailing you on behalf of Ralph McGehee. Mr. McGehee, who lives in Florida, is a retired CIA officer who has written and lectured extensively about CIA misdeeds since 1981.
Moreover the alleged method of suicide a self inflicted knife wound to the wrist is 1) a method of suicide extremely seldom used by men, and 2) a method of suicide that is seldom successful as it takes such a long time to die.

The current war did not begin on September 11. As far as we can tell, it began in 1993 with the first attack on the World Trade Center. This was succeeded in 1995 with an attack on the SANG headquarters in Riyadh, and in 1996 with the explosion at the Khobar Towers outside of Dhahran. Then followed the 1998 bombings of the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, and the more recent attack on the USS Cole. All these events, like the World Trade Center/Pentagon assaults, are consistent with a long-term strategy to erode US determination to maintain its alliance with the Saudi regime
In a decision so lacking in legitimacy, the Supreme Court will neither by-line the author of the decision nor allow the decision to ever be used as a precedent, Bush v. Gore awards the presidency of the United States to a man who loses the popular vote in Florida and loses the national popular vote by over 600,000.
This administration is lying about this whole thing being a "reaction" to September 11th. That leads me, in short order, to be very suspicious of their yet-to-be-provided evidence that someone in Afghanistan is responsible. It's just too damn convenient.
In October, 1999, St Martin's Press published Fortunate Son: The Making of an American President, which reached #30 on the New York Times best-seller list within days. Also within days, it became the center of a modern-day case of censorship and book burning.

It has become increasingly evident that the official story, that Osama bin Laden broke with the U.S. Establishment and its Saudi Arabian junior partners a decade ago is false.
"After Iraq's invasion of Kuwait OBL lobbied the Saudi royal family to organize civil defense in the kingdom and to raise a force from among the Afghan war veterans to fight Iraq." ('Pittsburgh Post-Gazette,' 23 September 2001 Sunday,
bush one: "...we have no opinion on the Arab-Arab conflicts, like your border disagreement with Kuwait...we see the Iraqi point of view that the measures taken by the U.A.E. and Kuwait is, in the final analysis, parallel to military aggression against Iraq." ('N.Y. Times, 22 September, 1990)
The sacred soil that the U.S. infidel soldiers supposedly desecrated was located in a series of top secret facilities built during the 1980s by the U.S. military at a cost (mostly to Saudi Arabia!) of - are you ready? - over 200 BILLION dollars.
In the end, the Hizbollah – the "center of world terror'' according to Mr Sharon – drove the Israelis out of Lebanon.
fisk - sep 01 "Every effort will be made in the coming days to switch off the "why'' question and concentrate on the who, what and how. CNN and most of the world's media have already obeyed this essential new war rule. I've already seen what happens when this rule is broken."
While the United States is relentlessly bombing Afghanistan with the official aim of getting Osama bin Laden, one of bin Laden's top collaborators is running a terrorist training camp in an area of Kosovo that is under U.S. control.
the London Guardian wrote recently, "Even to say he is bin Laden's right-hand man may understate his importance." He is considered by many to be the real head of what is known as the bin Laden group.
Strangely enough, according to an expert who testified before a U.S. Congressional committee in January 2000, al-Zawahiri was granted U.S. residence by the Immigration and Naturalization Service
The 19 names of suspected hijackers released by the FBI don't even appear on the passenger lists of the hijacked planes.
It is worth remembering the motto of the Mossad is, "By way of deception, thou shalt do war."
And one more thing. Take a good look at the map of Eurasia and plot out where the United States has military deployments. They march in a straight line through the middle of Eurasia, Macedonia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenia, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan.
Bin Laden was interviewed September 28th by a pro-Taliban newspaper. Here's a summary:
"In an interview with 'Ummat' -- a publication sympathetic to Afghanistan's ruling Taliban -- bin Laden said both he and al Qaida had 'nothing to do with the terrorist attacks in America' and that 'hard-line Jewish organizations might be involved…'
"Ummat said it sent questions to bin Laden through Taliban officials, and received written responses. Bin Laden reportedly said in his replies that dozens of terrorists organizations from countries like Israel, Russia, India and Serbia could be responsible for the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon that left over 6,000 people dead or missing.
He also insisted that al Qaida does not consider the United States its enemy…" ('United Press International,' 28 September 28, 2001, Friday)
As opponents of the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia and the U.S.-supported, Kosovo Liberation Army attacks on that country will testify, it is virtually impossible for people critical of U.S. foreign policy to get their views presented in major newspapers or on TV in the U.S.
But here is bin Laden, front page and prime time.
It is not possible to outbid a person who is ready to die for his belief. It is not possible to frighten such a person, there is a chance some agreement may be achieved, but it is absolutely pointless to haggle.
Our government sanctioned our direct cooperation with and assistance to known human rights violators on numerous occasions. Our government did this with the full understanding that the insights and skills we were imparting to both troops and leaders would enhance these forces' capability to violate the rights of their own citizens.
"In particular...the entertainment industry can offer [the Army] expertise in understanding plot and character, as well as advice on scenario training." - (BBC, 8 October 2001)
"The first time I tossed a burning heat tab onto the thatched roof of a barn, it was like pledging a fraternity. . . .
"You don't just set the building on fire. You giggle when the weeping, wailing family tries to put it out. Then you are crazy enough to be safe."
This de facto president is finally seeing his poll numbers fall. Even chauvinist paranoia has a half-life, it seems.
The French secret service is believed to have refused to allow MI6 to give the Americans "credible" intelligence showing that Iraq was trying to buy uranium ore from Niger, US intelligence sources said .
The revelations by the CIA official and the senators, if true, would prove that Tenet, who last week said he erred by allowing the uranium reference to be included in the State of the Union address, took the blame for an intelligence failure that he was not responsible for.
In an article in the New York Times last October, the paper reported that Rumsfeld had ordered the Office of Special Plans to “to search for information on Iraq’s hostile intentions or links to terrorists” that might have been overlooked by the CIA.
"If there's any future for American democracy, the trashing of Fortunate Son and its author will eventually stand out as an important early episode in the history of the Bush reaction.
hmm - this link is sposed to be to a Hatfiled article on slate - the article is missing but the page is still 'there'
Accidently reverting to his mind-set as a southern slave master, Bush also wants to lynch Condoleeza Rice and Colin Powell, both black, for misleading Bush.
Clinton got to New York from Australia quicker than Bush got to DC from Florida.
the Bush campaign spokesman said, sotto voce, 'Oh, shit,' followed by, 'No comment.'"--Salon

Dick Armitage. Deputy Secretary of Defense, . He had to leave the Reagan Administration because he was up to his neck in Iran contra drug problems. And now he's working directly with the Russian Mafia. And he is also a board member of Carlyle. Remember that?
The mass murder of many thousands of people in New York City, Washington, D.C., and western Pennsylvania was blamed on Arab terrorists minutes after it happened, yet all the top officials insisted during those tear-stained days that they had no premonition such a monstrous event could even happen.
Do you understand how those two thoughts do not and cannot co-exist in the same logical space?
Now, with the war is going badly, as they say in the Army, shit rolls downhill, and when things go wrong at the top, there is a lot of blame-shifting and carrying on that percolates down.
Rumsfeld's comment that, "The word evidence is a hard word."
Billionaire philanthropist George Soros is running full-page ads in major U.S. newspapers on Sunday challenging the honesty of the Bush administration's case for waging war in Iraq.
He insists that claims that he authorized the public disclosure of Kelly's name, and therefore his exposure, are "completely untrue." He raises his voice as he speaks these words, which is a very rare occurrence, since Blair never raises his voice, no matter how stressed or attacked he feels. It's a character trait that even his best friends find uncanny.
Campbell suggests to his boss that he begin his television address to the British nation with the following words: "My dear American citizens..." Again, no one laughs.
"It doesn't matter what he says," said Brooks, a clinical psychologist in Washington who leads the Sommet Institute for the Study of Power and Persuasion. "All of the images blur into one that he's going to stand up and protect us.
"When you're terrified and when you're totally scared your thinking breaks down. You don't want to do anything except believe he's doing the right thing."
"Bush is a master at inducing learned helplessness in the electorate. He uses a pessimistic language that creates fear and disables people from feeling they can solve their problems."
