THE US has material in its possession in Iraq which, if it checks out, will be conclusive evidence of Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction programs.
John Bolton, the US Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and Security, drops this sensational bit of news almost as an afterthought.
The evidence that Hussein had WMD programs is so overwhelming, he can barely understand how it is doubted.
Foreign Affairs Minister Alexander Downer said Australia no longer considered the sovereignty of other nations as absolute in international law, saying it was more important to act to end humanitarian or security crises.
The top 500 global companies shed a staggering 1.3 million employees during the year - about 3 per cent of their combined workforce - and profits fell an average 56 per cent.
