Magnet, in his book The Dream and the Nightmare, states that the counterculture was a huge social disaster because it set a bad example for the underclass.
When asked about his college-era views on Viet Nam, and what he made of campus discussions on the Yale campus, Bush responded dryly, "I don't remember any kind of heaviness ruining my time at Yale."

"Yeah and what he did in Texas is raise the African-American kids' grade scores to the highest in the country. That to me, alone, is a qualification of being President. The guy really cares. With the Republican Party in Texas he got thirty percent of the black vote...."

Bush's lip service to decency standards in Hollywood is ironic when one considers that one of his top Pioneer funders, and former employers, is Roland Betts, founder of SilverScreen Management Services, Inc., a company that has raised over $1 billion by co-releasing over twenty-one R-rated films.

"That's what I want to do. In the course of the campaign, it's the first thing I want to do. The second is to elevate the discourse."
"Will the next president be someone who has matured to the point where he has learned from mistakes and will bring dignity to the office to which he is elected? "

" I showed the people of Texas that I'm a uniter, not a divider. I refuse to play the politics of putting people into groups and pitting one group against another."

"Many of you did not vote for me -- I'm still your governor and will be your governor."

" Group-thought will balkanize our society, and I have rejected the politics of pitting one group of persons against another."

" It is essential that the next president be someone who understands America has an important role to play in promoting peace and to encourage others to understand the value of freedom, of free speech, free religion and the importance of the rule of law. "

"But most importantly, the question each candidate must answer is whether you are prepared to bring dignity and honor to the office to which you have been elected."

"...I'm proud of my education. I learned to read and write. Actually, that's not true...."

" I'd like to set a new standard as we enter the 21st century, and that is a campaign that is positive and based on an optimistic message, and then just let the voters choose who they want to lead. "

"Weapons of mass destruction (WMD) elimination and exploitation planning efforts did not occur early enough in the process to allow CentCom to effectively execute the mission.

With the will of the electorate dangerously ignored and the election stolen, the aborted election of 2000 produced an illegitimate president whose tortured thinking, mangled language, false machismo and sideline qualities have guaranteed that Bush and his followers will live forever in ignominy.

gwb is going to build a ballistic missile defense system, which has failed all tests to date, to insure that no other nation can successfully deploy its nuclear weapons against the United States. In this twisted logic which is official “Bush Doctrine”, nuclear weapons that will never be used by the US for fear of the fallout they would cause, or that will never be used to attack the US by other nations possessing them for fear of massive retaliation by the US, are going to be stopped by a ballistic missile defense system that will never be used because not only does it not work, but no one will ever know that because no nation state will launch a nuclear missile at the USA.

Documentary Prohibited in USA Now Showing in Russia

I say we should make certain this scumbucket never works in America again. That's right. I mean it's time to bring back the Hollywood blacklist.
Harrison Ford may not be the biggest offender in terms of statements he's made and actions he has taken, however, because of his star status, he is more than worthy of being on the list.
So, this time, America, the blacklisting is up to you.

"Oh, Mr. bin Laden, does this mean you’re going to give me an exclusive?" / has Attorney General John Ashcroft declared a new holy war against what adults like to look at in the privacy of their own homes? / Because the Frontline documentary also reported that Ashcroft had long wanted to launch a war against pornography, but was prevented from doing so by 9/11 and its aftermath. Now, with the war against terrorism having moved off the front pages, Ashcroft may believe the time has come to make his move. / Ashcroft is a man, after all, who, as a senator, tried to abolish the National Endowment for the Arts because of his belief, as Toobin described it, that it subsidized "elitist and indecent projects." / Who supports a constitutional amendment to outlaw flag-burning, a form of protest protected by the First Amendment.

But Stone said the celebrities were filling the void left by politicians too afraid to speak out against the war.

Nowhere in the Bible are we told she confessed her sin of lying – or even felt bad about it. For all intents and purposes, it looks like she was being "wise as a serpent." Jesus himself urged his disciples to be "shrewd as serpents and harmless as doves."

an engineer at the Midwest grid managing organization asked engineers at FirstEnergy Corp. to explain why they had not responded to a line outage reported sometime earlier and asked that they find out what was going on.

''We have no clue. Our computer is giving us fits, too,'' replied a FirstEnergy technician identified as Jerry Snickey. ''We don't even know the status of some of the stuff [power fluctuations] around us.''

Inevitable post-war problems in Iraq have given some in the anti-war coalition – liberals, paleoconservatives and Libertarians – new vitality and increased anxiety.
