The White House must defend Tenet, of course, because to trash him would be to trash the rationale for war. Meanwhile, Tenet, playing all his cynical bureaucratic cards, has let loose the hounds of hellish scandal upon the Bush team. Ironically secure in his job, the CIA chief smiles and sits, as some yakkety White House aide sits and sweats -- and picks up the phone, this time, to get a good lawyer.
Ever notice how one culture's noble rescue mission is another culture's ugly infidel invasion?
Consider that America and its darkest enemies are both currently run by ultra-conservative religious fundamentalists, with ties to big oil.
The French and Germans and many others were polite enough not to laugh out loud. That's what diplomats do best.
Dictating policy is so much simpler when God is on your side and you're 100% right every time.
If the 'real truth' got out about the Bush people and what they have done, would they still serve just one term?
Perhaps, but only if they all run concurrently...

Mr Lindquist said: "We're investigating the IANA. We have the money flowing to the IANA through the nephew from the uncle. We have the uncle visiting the United States just prior to September 11, and upon his return to the East Coast he's in the same hotel as the hijackers. According to FBI agents he feigns a seizure. It is something that we cannot ignore."
First, the older ones have nothing to fear from the administration's retaliation: they have long since made their f*** you money. Second, such people are always much more into the influence than the big-pile-of-consumption-goods game, and to be a tireless advocate for this administration's economic or security policy seems to be a good way to blow your reputation and credibility for life.
Where are the grownups of the Republican Party?
Kuwaiti security authorities have foiled an attempt to smuggle $60 million worth of chemical weapons and biological warheads from Iraq to an unnamed European country, a Kuwaiti newspaper said on Wednesday.

The case against U.S. Army Chaplain James Yee must not go the way of the Los Alamos scientist wrongly convicted of espionage, where FBI leaks to the press powered an unjust prosecution.
"The idiot furor over naming Valerie Plame as a CIA officer, and the CIA's phony call for an investigation, should not obscure the need to name as many intelligence officers and agents as possible. It is a hoary canard - long-practiced intelligence disinformation - that naming these persons places their life in jeopardy. On the contrary, not identifying them places far more lives in jeopardy from their vile, secret operations and the overthrow plots they advance. These officers, their agencies and governmental funders want their names kept secret so they do not have to face retribution for cowardly misdeeds they are fearful of executing openly."
Bush can destroy the economy with his tax cuts, starve social programs, allow corporadoes to rape the country, destroy the environment, and start an illegal and immoral and extraordinarily expensive war, and nobody seems to care. When the CIA is insulted, suddenly it becomes a national issue.
a decision to activate EAS (Emergency Alert System) would be made by the president (for national level) or by the affected state (for state level), or by local authorities, so the FCC has no information on why EAS was not used that day.
