In an embarrassing development for the US authorities, Charles Brady, the head of the transport security administration at Dulles airport, was arrested for drink driving on New Year's Eve, shortly after passengers on BA 223 had been released from questioning.

In a footnote, the director of security at Dulles airport was arrested early Thursday on suspicion of drunk-driving. The Transportation Security Administration said the director, Charles Brady, had been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of his case.

btw, curiouser, - that arnie/anthrax site link is to www.bt.cdc.gov/agent/anthrax/needtoknow.asp - the 'bt' apparently stands for bioterrorism. its not immediately obvious why the link doesnt go to any relevant 'messages' or to the cdc homepage which actually has messages. and if it doesnt point to 'news', then one wonders why its on the governers homepage. perhaps a site visitor mite actually expect to find messages from the cdc about contemporary issues - like the flu, or madcowdisease - behind this link. the cdc is getting spookier - i mentioned b4 that i was kinda non-specifically concerned about them. the cdc doesnt really hit the blog radar (which i observe from a distance) tho.

also curious: cdc's goal seems to be 'preventing and controlling disease' - anthrax seems more like a weapon than a controllable disease - its not communicable or anything. are they equally invoved in surviving a nukular bomb?
