What bothers me about this theory is that the timing appears to be all wrong. We are still too far from the next election for this terror to be still scary when the voters have to decide on a President, and I don't think either the American body politic or the American economy will be able to stand a constant diet of this nonsense until November. On the other hand, this fake terror threat could provide a fake context for a future real terrorist attack, one that could occur just before the Republican National Convention in September, and be used as the springboard by Bush into reelection.
(although both Reid and Ressam may have been trying to be caught, either for self-preservation, pangs of conscience, or some darker motive)
if there's one thing the Wolfowitz/Baker dust-ups make clear, it's that the ideology of the Bush White House isn't neo-conservatism, it's old-fashioned greed.
the respected Milan daily reads: “Al Qaeda: We will destroy New York within 35 days. Threat on the Internet. Countdown begins.”
The video clip showed three possible scenarios: 1. A bomb or giant fireball from the skies that will cover the metropolis with a radioactive cloud. 2. A storm of radioactive clouds that will topple skyscrapers one by one, along with the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge. 3. An explosion on board a charter aircraft that will cause a radioactive cloud to spread over the city.
... the report appeared in a newspaper widely viewed as the flagship of Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi.
alexa's top 50 sites is kinda interesting assuming its valid/true - i suspect it isnt quite what it appears to be.
news is obviously an enormous category. weather too - 5 outta the top 50.
8/50 are nonamerican news sites, although 7 of those are axis of invasion countries. and all in english. i dont think murdoch owns any of them, and they are all to the left of shrill.
'49. How To Build A Successful Ezine' is too weird to even comment on.
6/50 are disgustingly shrill - newsmax (topleft ad is charlton heston, a little lower u find 'NewsMax Top 10 Hottest Sellers December 24, 2003. 1 Ann Coulter Talking Doll 2 George W. Bush Top Gun Action Figure 3 George W. Bush Portrait 4 Deck of Hillary Cards...'), newsday (2nd story after mars "Decorated Police Dog Stabbed During Arrest"), fuxnews, newyuorkpost, drudge (#7?), and the dandylicious worldnetdaily (with a michael savage ad topleft, and a sweet ad for a book called "Uncle Sam's Plantation" which seems to suggest that the best way to help people is to stop welfare, and another ad imploirng me to 'sponsor a child in jesus' name, and the headline article "GLOBAL JIHAD. 'Clean-aliases' sought to foil airport security?").
fucked.com gets a ranking - i went there today for the first time in months and months - its good to see them still getting lots of new content.
