The hand of the BoJ was seen in the fact that the yen was virtually unchanged against the dollar on Friday, gaining a fraction at Y111.13 after slipping from Y109.06 at the start of the week. As such, the yen approached five year lows against both sterling and the single currency, at Y205.19 and Y137.89 respectively.

Last fall, a 54-member U.S. task force of South Asia experts sponsored by the Council on Foreign Relations and the Asia Society concluded that Musharraf and key military officers "favor a hard-line policy on Kashmir and believe that they need the militants to maintain pressure on India."

Chalabi said the CIA knew defectors can be biased and that even the press was saying "'defectors have an ax to grind, don't believe them."'
"Now you're telling me that despite all this public evidence, the United States government took our word without checking out the people?" Chalabi said incredulously
"I want to be asked to testify in the United States Senate in the Intelligence Committee. I want to do this in an open session," he says.
