ive been worried about taiwan for ever. the stoopid cadministration has effectively waived any international pretense to restraint. (thats why i think chechnya will also be toast.) so ive been worried about the election/referendum in taiwan.

having said that, im not sure i believe in the assassination attempt - "no-one heard the gun cos of the fireworks 'as usual'", "the president didnt know he'd been shot", the pictures of the bullet hole, and the odd photos of his stomach wound - all sounds like something spooky is going on. i dont know what.

speaking of the media pushing a message, the memo re the pakistan fighting today seems to be that the fighting is *fierce* - and therefore, it can be assumed that some vip is hiding there (somehow it can be assumed that its #2 - presumably from the degree of ferocity). apart from the inability to accept that people mite actually fite hard for their homes, another interesting story which came out 12 hours ago is a story (byline "By Rodney Dalton, New York correspondent and Agencies" in the australian (murdok, but crediblish)

theres been no mention of it on the teeve - they just keep reporting the fierce fiting. yet this is the only story that googlenews returns on 'BULLETPROOF LandCruiser' - so im not sure which agencies are carrying the story. the imagery is stunning tho - madmax?

im not sure whats going on. but its not reality.

bush is getting scarier. the speech was spinechilling. woteva happened to 'u say tomayto, i say tomahto'? or 'i say nuclear, u say nucular' or whatever (or woteva)

and the charges on the gitmo chaplain james yee have been dropped. it sux to be syrian. lets remember, *not a single* terrorism charge has been successful. they are still giving him some internal discipline for the adultery charge - and for downloading porn. im not sure how many months he was in the brig for. and now they claim they arent taking the care any further on the grounds of national security. they let those charged with conspiring to 911 go free for the same reason in germany. are they kidding??????

every single arrest they have made has just been to scapegoat some random person to poision the public mind against muslims. it doesnt matter if u are a chaplian or someone who sold a phone to the madrid bombers, or any of the ricin arrests in london. or padilla. or any of these spies that they pick up - your life is toast cos they need someone (respect to all the peep they killed instead)

we can only hope that deomcracy is still functioning in america and that the speech was a desperate attempt to reach out to the base to stop them from leaving, rather than an evil portend.
