heres more of the us/madrid connection...

"I think that we do have to take very seriously the thought that the terrorists might have learned, we hope, the wrong lesson from Spain," Rice told "Fox News Sunday."
"I think we also have to take seriously that they might try during the cycle leading up to the election to do something," she said.

The opportunity for terrorists to try to influence the election, as was the case last month in Spain, appears to be an opportunity that would "be too good to pass up for them," Rice said.

"Jose Maria Aznar, outgoing prime minister of Spain and a strong U.S. ally in the war in Iraq, says he has warned President Bush that he believes terrorists will try to affect the U.S. election as they did in Spain... "It is obvious that these attacks were looking for a political effect," he said."

ive made the same point before, but it seems important. the main facts again:
1. the madrid bombs exploded 4 days before the election
2. no-one took credit for a few days
3. aznar went desperately out of his way to lie for no apparent reason (and the UN blamed eta immediately, oddly)
4. the spaniards threw aznar out becuase he lied - *not* becuase of iraq.

so when aznar says (on fox no less) "It is obvious that these attacks were looking for a political effect," im not sure that is true. if alq wanted a political effect, they would not have left so much up to chance... cos if aznar hadnt unreasonably spouted 'eta eta', then he prolly wouldnt have lost the election, in which case alq wouldnt have succeeded in their purported political motivations - so it would have been a real waste of all their efforts, and a waste of 191 people.
given that alq didnt claim immediate responsibilty

rice: "be too good to pass up for them,"
is she inviting them???

rice: "they might try during the cycle leading up to the election"
im not sure what this language means - my guess is that the domestic attack will be oct31 or nov 1 - when condi says 'during the cycle' im not sure if she is pointing to that weekend, or perhaps pointing to a longer period before the election... or maybe her language means nothing here. i dont really know what the word 'cycle' means in this case, and im not sure why she didnt just say "they might try leading up to the election." it prolly means nuthin.

fauxnews are promoting a terrynichols/alqaida link, and nicholls/iraq
