"Since March 31, about 100 US soldiers have died -- as of yesterday, one-seventh of the war's 706 fatalities. "In the end, it will be successful," Rumsfeld said."

again - we see this language 'since mar31' - this time from the presumably 'liberal' boston globe. i posited the other day that normal people dont use such language, and now we see the same again - even in an article that is presumptively anti-rumsfeld.

but the important thing to notice is that 'since mar31' has become the tagline. if one journo said it, i could excuse it, but its not an accident when 2 journos say it (and im sure a google would show that everyone is using it). and the only way (as far as i can tell) that can happen is that all juornos are getting the same memo - which points to the fact that every phrase in the media is turned/managed whatever toward some objective. and hopefully (if im rite) it will also point to the idea that when i point to something that sounds a bit weird, then maybe i shuold get the benefit of the doubt - cos i feel like i have pretty good antennae for this stuff.

and we again see curious levels of specificity "Since March 31, about 100 US soldiers have died" - the 'since 331' bit is locked in, but its 'about 100 hundred soldiers' - give or take a score here or there...

i also posit that people dont try to change agenda for fun - and therefore if i notice/comment on some apparent spin, even if it seems trivial, theres a story behind the reason the story was spun. otherwise theres no point in spinnning a story... of all the crazy speculation ive indulged in over the last 2 years, i can hardly think of a single 'crazy speculation' that id prefer to withdraw. (i sound like gwb!). i dont say this for the purpose of 'look at me - i was right', so much as 'it seems ive been right before, and im reallly really concerned about the future - if i am still right, then u should be worried about your family and friends'. seriously. not just terror-fied - but actively taking steps to save people you like. again, it was a year or so ago when i suggested the same thing, 'start preparing alternatives cos soon u'll wish u had started earlier' i told michael. unfortunately that seems more true now than it did then.

this of course was all before madrid - so i didnt particularly see the 'october surprise' - i just thought theyd quietly-ish steal the nov04 election and then unleash their horror. given madrid (and condis recent invitation), it seems that the timeframe has been compacted. we are only 5 months from november. if i had a family living in ny now, id do 2 things, a) id organise a holiday in montana 2 weeks before nov4 b) id try to have papers which suggested that a foreign country gave a shit about me - dual passport or woteva u could scrap together. c) if u like anyone who is 15-26 year old, tell them the same. imagine, retrospectively, that u are a gypsy in germany in 1934 - what steps do u wish u'd undertaken?

grrrrrrrrr
