this is my favourite bit "A U.S. magistrate released Doyle and scheduled an Aug. 2 trial date" - I wonder whether a muslim who threatened some random whitey church upon seeing the Abugraib pics would have been treated similarly. I wonder how much empathy he'd get with the same "It just hurt so bad."

(somewhat curiously, the guy mentions michael berg, not nick, and the AP doesnt bother correcting it - ill-directed motivations and targets and all that)
