My desk calendar says that summer will begin June 21, but it is wrong. In the East, summer will begin at 8:57 p.m. on June 20. Sometimes summer begins on June 21, sometimes on June 20. Who knows what’s what or when’s when? On some years summer doesn’t start the same day on the East and West coasts. Live and learn.

The starts of all the seasons fluctuate from year to year. Fall starts on Sept. 21 or 22 each year. My calendar says it starts on the 22nd this year. But the calendar is wrong about summer, so it could be wrong about fall.
