hmmm- hope youve all got your second passports and your tinhats ready.
the interesting thing that struck me about these news stories was the bit saying that they *cant* cancel illections cos it'd be too difficult logistically/legally with 'thousands and thousands' of councils (or woteva they are). i only noticed the 'cant do it' bit on tv news - not in print - so im not sure...
the story came out in newsweek which is a leak-channel - the problem is that if they are leaking the story even tho they cant do anything about cancelling the elections then youve gotta ask 'why bother?' - if we are lucky its just part of the faschcroft terrr show, or more sinisterly, they mite be setting the stage for 'having no choice' but to proceed with an illection if a bomb goes off.
who r the punters gonna vote for when nyc just got wiped out yesterday? flipflopper frenchlooking kerry? nader?
if we get thru the oz election (prolly 23 or 30 oct) w/out sydneyharbour being blown to smithereens, then americans should get really nervous.
the only questions being where? and when? in terms of 'when', i expect that the repuglicans have done the analyis to ascertain the best stage of PTSD of denial/anger/blah which is most likely to give the max votebush outcome - or scaring everyone into staying home so that the brooksbrothers crew can vote alone and swing the election. i dont know whether the best time (for 'managing' the result) is one day or one month. prolly much closer to a few days but im just guessing.
in terms of 'where' - the first point is that 'simultaneous attacks' can occur in a bunch of places - so the 'where?' question might be moot. that sed, the second point is that if the 'there was an attck, therefore vote bush' logic is 'valid' for the joe6pak crowd, then the attack might as well be in a largely democratic state. i dont know the detail of ampolitics very well - but california looks like a tasty target. and a nice platform for arnie, rudy style... lax or goldengate bridge? or both?
speaking of arnie, i wonder if anyone remembers the secret meetings he had with kenlay just prior to the ca theft oops recall. thats the same kenlay who recently perpwalked. if my memory serves me, warrenbuffet was there too. and michael milken. i wonder what was discussed...
more airport trouble - logan again - 5 hour delay - "the substations' backup electrical system as well as the terminal's fail-safe generator system did not kick in after the outage, as they are programmed to do."
