* ive been meaning to do a 'hero list' - someone beat me to it. others include sibel, Karen Kwiatkowski, krugman, - and then robin cook from the uk and andrew wilkie in oz. the saddest reality is that in a country of 300m, the number of (visible) 'heroes' can be counted on fingers and toes. (where hero is defined as 'someone who does something that we would expect normal people to do')
