* RRjr tees off: "The Case Against George W. Bush - By Ron Reagan"
http://www.esquire.com/cgi-bin/printtool/print.cgi?pages=5&filename=%2Ffeatures%2Farticles%2F2004%2F040729_mfe_reagan.html&x=19&y=13

* steve jobs gets cancer treatment. fauxnews cant keep the "Jobs Recovery"
banner off the bottom of the screen.

* ""People ask me if I’m really calling for the elimination of the IRS,
and I say I think that’s a great thing to do for future generations of
Americans," Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert explains in his new book, to be
released on Wednesday." ???? (drudge) http://www.drudgereport.com/rnc.htm

* "Another F.B.I. Employee Blows Whistle on Agency"
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/02/politics/02whistleblower.html

* "The facts facing the United States as George W. Bush and John Kerry joust for
the presidency are too grim to be honestly discussed on the stump. No one wants
to tell cheering potential voters that the nation has sunk so deep into a hole
that it will take decades to extricate it.... It may well be that candidates
can't tell voters the truth and still win. If that's so, then democracy
American-style may be a lot more dysfunctional than even the last four years has
indicated." http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/02/opinion/02herbert.html

* 43 "It is a ridiculous notion to assert that, because the United States is on
the offense, more people want to hurt us."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/articles/campaign080204.html (i
love the "It is a ridiculous notion to assert that" bit of the sentence. since
when did 43 talk so floridly?)

* the dnc played bruuuce sprinsteen - presumably touting their edu plan "we
learned more from a 3 minute record than we ever learned in school" - a long way
from reagans delicious 'born in the usa' campaign but still nice

* why on earth did it take so long to bring the iraqi xtians into the game? its
the first time ive even heard of iraqi x-luvvers - and somehow they repeatedly
dragged the freedom to drink alcohol into the story.

* " And most media millionaires want Bush to win, because Bush is good to them.
Clear enough, but less clear is how the media billionaires’ print and
broadcast employees know exactly how to skillfully serve their bosses without
having to be told."
http://www.interventionmag.com/cms/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=820

* "Al Qaeda is long known to have undertaken surveillance of its potential
targets" dem terrrrrists sure are damn clever.

* "In early July, The New Reuplic broke the story of how the Bush administration
was pressuring Pakistani officials to apprehend high-value targets (HVTs) in
time for the November elections--and in particular, to coincide with the
Democratic National Convention. Although the capture took place in central
Pakistan "a few days back," the announcement came just hours before John Kerry
will give his acceptance speech in Boston."
http://www.tnr.com/doc.mhtml?i=20040719&s=aaj071904 i didnt really make much of
this story at the time cos the timing seemed to be a bit off - and the impact
not so great (wrt to disrupting the dnc, and the impact thereof) - altho now we
have these latest nyse et al threats, apparently as a result of this guys'
capture. praps the idea is to use low-news august in the buildup to the rnc. the
dems also cant quite advertise this month. if i keep hearing stupid 2bit
analysis like 'ams like kerry on economy, but 43 on security' or analysis of
pedestrians per minute ill vomitvomitvomit. if u see someone u dont know getting
into a cropduster that doesnt belong to you, please report it.

* i spose u saw that msf has left afghanistan.

* "After past terror warnings, critics have at times accused the Bush
administration of exaggerating the threat for political purposes. But on Sunday,
few prominent Democrats were making that charge, and many Democrats appeared to
take the threat seriously."
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/02/politics/02terror.html?adxnnl=1&adxnnlx=1091485319-HbzQ7v6teuTec5DgEEaLIA&pagewanted=all&position= how does the journo make
that statement without mentioning that Dean was on the teeve doubting the
veracity?

* its my lil bro's 21st bday today. unfortunately, he's already gone lukery
