* btw - cheney was funny re the S Corporation thing re jone. spaz.

* btw - cheney has this neat trick - if theres something he cant defend or whatever he says 'the record stands for itself' or 'go check the record' or 'go to factcheck.com' or 'i dont know where to start' - (some/most of) the audience presumably assumes that the facts/record tell cheneys case for him. and cheney can take a break from telling specific lies.

* jone "The facts are the vice president's company that he was CEO of, that did business with sworn enemies of the United States, paid millions of dollars in fines for providing false financial information, [and is] under investigation for bribing foreign officials," Edwards said. "The same company that got a $7.5 billion no-bid contract, the rule is that part of their money is supposed to be withheld when they're under investigation, as they are now, for having overcharged the American taxpayer, but they're getting every dime of their money." - heres the thing witht his stupid cadmin - the list of mistakes is soooo long, in any subject area, many 'mistakes' impeach-worthy *individually*, that it can get difficult to stay on msg. i think jone did the with-holding thing twice in the debate. i hope that doesnt become a talknig point - its too difficult to convey, and doesnt really make a point. instead, how about "they are being investigated for corruptly overcharging by $xm for our own soliders *dinners*. in iraq. think about that. pause pause. (points to evildick) HIS company! isnt the $7b no-bid contract *enough*? off the food that sustains our own brave soldiers??? where will it stop?"

* separately, apparently cheney finally signed away his halliburton money. i couldnt believe he didnt do it years ago - he'd verbally committed to it, but he sure took a lot of mud for it along the way. odd decisions.

* "One senior U.S. official familiar with reconstruction suggested as little as a quarter of the funding is reaching its intended projects." at least theyll now be able to brag that they havent spent much on reconstruction.

* wsj "John Edwards was at it last night too. "There is no connection between the attacks of Sept. 11 and Saddam Hussein," he declared. While this statement now appears to be true, in the sense that Saddam was not a conspirator in the attacks, pleading the innocence of America's enemies isn't an appealing message outside the antiwar left." http://www.opinionjournal.com/best/?id=110005721
