saddam is in jail

* latham is doing a live press conference - i think he just answered a question about 'troops home by xmas' - why it hasnt been an issue, and whether he could do it in such a short time. i think i heard him say simply 'it can and will be done under a labour govt' - and kinda left it at that. i think the press audience was stunned and didnt know what to do - was there some applause? hmmmmm. very interesting

* here is the start of my liveblog http://wotisitgood4.blogspot.com/2004/10/cheney-called-iraqi-troop-deaths-part.html (u gotta read it backwards - its not very interesting) - the hilite was when edwards turned to cheney and said "mr veep i dont think this country can stand 4 more years." my fave farcical moment was the 50%/90% troop death thing. the interesting thing is that the repugs must have thought that this line was hurting them (its been around for a while) and they must have struggled to come up with anything much... and then he used it to launch into some psycho tirade that edwards doesnt appreciate the lives of the iraqis fighting for their country. it was very dumb. and typical.
