* how many journos will be more tepid in their criticism than they haev been o'er the last 4 years? one imagines it cant be any worse than it has been. one also imagines that it almost certainly will be.
* im not comforted by the logic that many 2nd terms have been hamstrung. one things for certain - there wont be any intentional moderation - the only hope is that they collapse under their own weight. thatd be cool if it happened next week under the weight of past sins - but one expects that if we havent hit that point yet, then its still a long long way away. and therefore any collapse will only come from future crimes, which presumably means they must necessarily be much worse than crimes to date. which is too scary to contemplate.
* "Among the 19 percent of the electorate that cited terrorism as the most important issue in the campaign, fully 86 percent supported Bush. But among the 21 percent of the electorate that described itself as "very worried" about terrorism, Bush got just 44 percent. " http://www.prospect.org/weblog/archives/2004/11/index.html#004694
* " "In conclusion, this is a potential throw of the dice that could bring the media on our heads, and cut the Democratic Party and country in half; my view is that we would have far the larger half."
And there you have it. Tear the country apart. And once it's broken, our chunk will be bigger." http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/week_2004_10_31.php#003941
