* ive mentioned repeatedly that the reallybadmin wants to shut down
the internet. heres tenet: "I know that these actions will be
controversial in this age when we still think the Internet is a
free and open society with no control or accountability, but
ultimately the Wild West must give way to governance and control."
one imagines that he prolly has a product to sell or some such,
otherwise he wouldnt mention it - but this is part of the agenda.
one imagines that he wouldnt have a product to sell unless he knew
he could sell it. even if tenet was right about the vulnerabilities
of the internet - if we juxtapose it against retiring thompsons
comments that itd be a walk in the park to fuckup the foodsupply,
then concerns about the internet need to be taken with a grain of
salt... methinx internet security isnt quite the problem.

* and btw - i also suggested that u get a second passport - and
canada prolly doesnt quite count. not safe there. i fear that 43s
speech there this past week will be uberspooky in retrospect. and
dont get a french passport either. mr perle will find u there too.
* ftr - im not sure i specifically mentioned but the reason that i
thought we might liquidate part of our bet on iraq illections was
cos a) we'd already tripled our $ b) its somewhat tuff to ascertain
what an 'election' is - its not obvious whether the egadmins agenda
would prefer no election, or a failed partial election.
* "Failing upward? President Bush announced yesterday he'll be
awarding the presidential Medal of Freedom to the Tres Amigos of
Iraq: former CIA chief George J. "Slam Dunk" Tenet, who gave him
bad information; retired Army Gen. Tommy R. Franks, who didn't have
enough troops for the postwar occupation; and former Iraq viceroy
L. Paul Bremer, who complained about the troop levels too late."

* wsj having a go at the redcross "But now the ICRC has thrown confidentiality aside to attack the U.S., of all countries. And it matters little that the original leaker in this case might have been in the U.S. government... No longer careful, scrupulous and neutral, the ICRC has become just another politicized pressure group like Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch. * "Al Hayat reports that the Near East section in the State Department is threatening to resign en masse if Danielle Pletka is appointed Assistant Secretary for Near Eastern Affairs. State Department critics, who have little use for "Arabists" who have highly suspicious Arabic-language skills and actual expertise in the region, might see this threat as an unexpected bonus and make them all the more eager to see Pletka appointed." http://abuaardvark.typepad.com/abuaardvark/2004/11/weekend_arab_me.html
* "Aljazeera's bureau chief in Baghdad, Hamid Hadid, has rejected a report in a pan-Arab daily that said he is related to an alleged al-Zarqawi associate who is supposed to have led the battle in Falluja against US forces." http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/1394A286-4A5A-4038-9FA7-777B51A10336.htm
