* it turns out that its news that the first iraqi expat to register to vote is an ozzie - what with the timezones and all. (i saw it on cnni & local sbs) - i didnt really listen to the cnni report, but the sbs report had this lovely bit "there are only voting sites in melbourne and sydney and shepparton (!) - so iraqis not living in these areas, or in detention, will likely not be able to vote" - "or in detention"??????? fuck off off off. (ftr - it seemed that the sbs piece was canned - ie imported from some other station. but still.)

* btw - im not sure why Mahmoud Abbas immediately gets called to account for not stopping bombings and the such when allawi seems to get away with it in iraq.

* speaking of sbs (which i generally like) there was an interview with graner's dad which i hadnt seen elsewhere "heres a message for parents - dont let your sons grow up to be soldiers"

* speaking of sbs, they are advertising for a show tomorrow night about called "September 11 Didn't Happen" - subtitle 'the death of reality' or some such - of course, nobody suggests September 11 Didn't Happen. maybe i dont like sbs anymore.
