just say gnosis

VTOE
* pic of boxer attached

* and heres demnow vid on the vote challenge incl boxer and tubbjones ("i am duty bound" (so were all the others)). seems demnow thinks its actually "news" http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=05/01/07/1621240

* heres that quote " Republican Representative from Georgia, Jack
Kingston, stormed that "the only thing less realistic than exit
polls are Godzilla movies!""

* lisarein (who i love) picks up on my (obvious) point: - it is
this statement from conyers that is the killer: "With regards to
our factual finding, in brief, we find that there were massive and
unprecedented voter irregularities and anomalies in Ohio. In many
cases these irregularities were caused by intentional misconduct
and illegal behavior, much of it involving Secretary of State J.
Kenneth Blackwell, the co-chair of the Bush-Cheney campaign in
Ohio." - this quote should have been read out by everyone objecting
yesterday. and boxer and Tubbs should have introduced the challenge
with this statement. and any newspaper which refers to 'long
lines', but not this statement is kidding themselves. and kidding
everyone else. any critter who was aware of this statement and
still voted against the challenge ought be locked up for
dereliction of duty and breaching their fiduciary duty and hell,
ill even throw in RICO charges, just for fun.

* here are the pix of those who voted yesterday
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/1/7/12258/32457 the white girlymen
folk: farr, filner, kucinich, olver, pallone, hinchley, markey. i
wish kucinich was president.

GONZO
* heres murderks peculiar take on the gonzales hearings - title:
"Gonzales queries FBI claims" dog bless u rupe.
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5744,11879414%255E2703,00.html

* praps this sums it up best: "Remember what Dick Cheney said to Sen. Patrick Leahy this past June on the Senate floor? Think of Alberto Gonzales' testimony Thursday before the Senate Judiciary Committee, where Leahy is the ranking Democrat, as the Bush administration's logical follow-up: "And your mother."" read this article if u wanna get a quickie on gonzales' testimony http://www.slate.com/id/2111962/

* heres the graham (sounding like a repug-human (b4 he voted 4
gonzales))/gonzales video - http://movies.ziaspace.com/U~2.wmv

* the fun thing about the gonzales brouhaha that seems to be being
ignored is that in the discussion about torture, they talk about
the organ failure and all that, but there doesnt seem to be any
mention about the other part of the memos where it was ok to kill
someone by toruring them, as long as that wasnt the primary
purpose, and even if it was the primary purpose, then it was ok so
long as some blahblah or other. demnow on gonzales here
http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=05/01/07/1621235

* condis confirmation soon too...

WART
* georgegalloway (hero) " described Saddam as a war criminal "just
like George Bush and Tony Blair". He said: "I think they are all
war criminals."" and "It is the Americans trial (of saddam), it is
their court, they are holding Saddam Hussein, they are drawing up
the charges and they'll hang him. The Iraqis that are doing this
are a puppet government. They are stooges, collaborators,
hand-picked by the military occupation of Iraq."
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2004/07/02/wirq702.xml

* further to my point yesterday that 4 provinces of iraq are not sufficiently secure to hold elections - we get this nice headline from nyt "Some Iraq Areas Unsafe for Vote" the lead: " significant areas of 4 of Iraq's 18 provinces are still not secure enough for citizens to vote" and 10 lines down we get this: "Baghdad is one of the four provinces identified by the commander, the other provinces, the general said, were Anbar, which includes Falluja and Ramadi; Nineveh, which contains Mosul; and Salahadin, which includes Tikrit, the hometown of Saddam Hussein." then this " It was an acknowledgement of the continued resilience of the Iraqi insurgency, which is thought to number 8,000 to 10,000 fighters" (someone this week said the real number was 200k)

seriously - can someone splain me how, when 50% of the fucking population cant vote, how we get a headline "Some Iraq Areas Unsafe for Vote"? we see example after example that the media is industrial level corrupt - but it never ceases to surprise. (of course, journos dont write headlines - editors do. which kinda reminds me of the voting thing - there doesnt need to be local corruption - just top level.)

* same article "The general said American and Iraqi forces had been attacked an average of about 70 times a day in the past week. He said he expected the number of such attacks to climb to around 85 a day as election day nears." wot a load of bunkum. 'we expect bombings to be up 22% for 3 weeks'. there are many who are expecting some zarq style attacks in the next few weeks - the whole 'bombings per day' metric is kinda funny.

QUAKER
* "Bonus Quote of the Day
"Get some devastation in the back."
-- Sen. Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN), quoted by the AP, to a staff photographer taking a picture of him before leaving tsunami-stricken southern Sri Lanka." http://politicalwire.com/archives/2005/01/07/bonus_quote_of_the_day.html

OTHER
* i wish i was a physicist. bizzarroworld would probably be easier to understand. multiple realities. schroedingers cat. 11th dimension. et al.

* further to my rant yesterday: "I grew up in a totalitarian country, where it was customary to determine what was really important by noticing what was not being reported in the media. Have we reached the same state of affairs in America?" http://www.roanoke.com/editorials/commentary%5C16501.html

* btw, the nyt.com is parently considering a subscription model

* Klein (tucker carlsons boss on sacking carlson/xfire) told the
Associated Press, "I guess I come down more firmly in the Jon
Stewart camp."

* "William McGurn, longtime chief editorial writer for The Wall
Street Journal, will replace Michael Gerson as President George W.
Bush's chief speech writer," u know what i fucking think of
wjsoped. jesusfukkingx
http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000747588

* if Dog did the tsunami, then he must have killed all them dead
and hurt am soldiers in iraq

* "Bush's approval rating is at 49 percent in the AP poll with 49
percent disapproving among all of those polled... "I very strongly
support what he's been doing," said Cheryl McGauvran, a teacher in
a Christian school. "If we had somebody in office who waffled we
would be in trouble. It's almost better to be wrong and then
correct it, than to vacillate and be stomped.""
please.make.it.stop. there is so much wrong about this that my head
is about to explode.
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=544&e=7&u=/ap/bush_poll

* "And back in 1990 - when President Bush's father was in the White
House and his mother, Barbara, was First Lady - Kid Rock sang:
"Pimp of the Nation, I could be it/ As a matter of fact, I forsee
it/ But only pimpin hoes with the big tush/ While you be left
pimpin Barbra Bush.""
http://stevegilliard.blogspot.com/2005/01/no-kid-rock-says-wingnut-reverend.html

* TheAge frontapges a fahour hagiography ;-)
http://theage.com.au/news/Business/Banking-on-a-National-revival/2005/01/07/1104832303933.html

* sinclair is in the news for a couple of reasons - Staples has
decided to pull advertising from sincliar cos of the campaign in
response (in part) to sinclair demanding that their stations show
the anti-jonk movie prior to the election. sinclair have threatened
to sue everyone on the planet in response. which is fun.

* the other thing about sinclair is that one of their parently popular
hosts, Armstrong Williams, (ive never heard of him) was paid $240k
for plugging NoChildLeftBehind on air. the interesting things seem
to be a) it was paid by the taxpayer, not the repugs b) one
suspects that there might be many more similar types of payola
going on everywhere. im shocked! c) if they have to pimp people to
sell something as well named as NoChildLeftBehind, then they really
need to start coming up with better names for their programs...
update: williams is gone
http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000749251 - now, if we can get safire before his last
column...

* when is cbs/60min2 gonna run that nigerianuranium scam story?
rasthergate was really a master stroke - 2 birds, one stone. i bet
krove jerks himself to sleep over that one.
