on a separate note, i wrote an article a while back that i dont think i really finished, and i dont think i posted it - but the presmise was that tho the whole socsec privatization nonsense is actually a form of quasi-nationalization. basically, if the amgovt was to go out an buy a bunch of public shares, it would be called nationalization - so it doesnt seem a whole heap different if the amgovt 'gives' people money and tells them what stocks to invest in, and then takes the money back at the end of the process, then it seems an argument could be made that it has *some* elements of quasi-nationalisation.
