not orwellian. down *is* up.

MEDIA
* frankluntz: " I seek to use words to brighten a debate that has been darkened by those who nuance over what the meaning of "is" is, and whether you have smoked marijuana if you didn't inhale... My goal is to make honest political rhetoric that achieves worthy goals, to level the linguistic playing field and to inform Americans of the true nature of our policy debates." LINK

* frankluntz says he isnt "Orwellian. I seek clarity in our nation's great debates, and all too often the words we have used until now hinder real discourse... environmentalists are extreme."

* "In an Orwellian inversion almost too good to be true, the longtime presidential spinstrix (khughes) vowed to "defeat propaganda with truth."" LINK

* "One of the most significant findings was "the amount of editing that went into content after it was gathered but before it was published," the study stated. Of those who reported from Iraq, 15% said that on one or more occasions their organizations edited material for publication and they did not believe the final version accurately represented the story.
Of those involved in war coverage who were in newsrooms and not in Iraq, 20% said material was edited for reasons other than basic style and length." LINK

* stephen roach: " Tipping points are a great concept, but virtually impossible to identify ahead of time -- let alone when they are occurring. It is only with the great luxury of hindsight that we can look back and know that the proverbial bell has rung. In my view, March 16, 2005 could end up in the running as a possible tipping point for America." LINK
roach is everyones favourite bear - but he always sounds reasonable

* " Here we are, all upset because Mark McGwire refused to answer questions
about illicit substances he might have ingested. Yet we happly reelect a President
who refused to answer those same questions. " LINK
