dave makes some good points about domestic terrorism, but as you know, im not entirely ready to put this one to bed. i posted this in his comment section:
"dave, without getting too weird, im not convinced that the dust has actually settled on this issue.
we know that the purported murderer sent a suicide letter to a radio station on the morning that he coincidentally got pulled over, and he took the opportunity to shoot himself.
Here's what the letter said in part:
"I broke into utility room to Judge Lefkow’s house at 4:30am, to spend all day there, and in the evening to get Judge Lefkow."
it struck me as odd that someone would break into a house and rather than kill his target in her sleep while she was an easy target, he planned on hanging around all day till she got home from work so that he could kill her then.
surely the risks of 1) not succeeding 2) getting caught 3) collateral damage would be much greater if he waited till the evening.
it seems like an odd plan. i havent a clue what it means. i wrote a rambly post about it here"
i also note that the original post generated some more interest over at thecommonills.
to clarify, CI originally posted my observation that the NYT was linking to a whitehate group (which was picked up by ron at Why Are We Back In Iraq?) - which was just a subset of my wider ramblings about the Lefkow murders. as CI says, the main gig over there isnt being self-referential.
the good news, however, is that if Pat wonders whether CI was avoiding the main issues in my original post, then presumably Pat thinks the questions i raised there are somewhat reasonable and maybe im not completely crazy after all.
feel free to comment.
