do religious cards joke about religion?

FRIST
* "As the Senate heads toward a showdown over the rules governing judicial confirmations, Senator Bill Frist, the majority leader, has agreed to join a handful of prominent Christian conservatives in a telecast portraying Democrats as "against people of faith" for blocking President Bush's nominees." LINK

* the ADL slams Frist "Whatever one's views may be on this or any other issue, playing the 'religious' card is as unacceptable as playing the race card." LINK
which kinda seems funny - but ill take it

* "Frist is all but certain to press for a rule change that would ban filibusters of judicial nominations in the next few weeks" LINK

* "Frist had mixed results yesterday in his scramble to find 50 Republicans who will promise to vote for the rule change (Vice President Cheney could break a 50-50 tie in Frist's favor)... Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) told MSNBC, "I will vote against the nuclear option . . . because we won't always be in the majority."" LINK
get yer popcorn ready... i wonder if some dinos will cross-over. lieberman? grrrr.

* nyt ed: " nothing comes close to the shameful declaration of religious war by Bill Frist, the Senate majority leader, over the selection of judges for federal courts." LINK

* wapo ed: "Mr. Frist is not responsible for the rhetoric of others. But it will be a distressing new low in the debased debate over judges if the Senate leader appears at an event predicated on slander, unless he makes clear that he does not condone such slander. " LINK

* "If Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist launches an effort to bar filibusters of judicial nominations - a step, known as the "nuclear option," that senior aides say is imminent - Cheney said he, as president of the Senate, would back the move." LINK
