effluvium

* "Thousands of scientists were scrambling today at the urging of global health authorities to destroy vials of a pandemic flu strain sent to labs in 18 countries as part of routine testing." LINK
this ought to get the conspiracy folk all worked up...
lets take a quick flashback to my comment last week titled "medical internment":
"President Bush signed an executive order Friday authorizing the government to impose a quarantine to deal with any outbreak of a particularly lethal variation of influenza" LINK
sweet. thats medical internment. calling michelle malkin... ten bux says there'll be fears of a race-related disease soon..." - theres no sign that this latest debacle is race-related

* cdc " officials strongly doubt someone deliberately planted the dangerous germ or that this was an act of bioterrorism.
"It wouldn’t be a smart way to start a pandemic to send it to laboratories because we have people well trained in biocontainment," she said." LINK

* and heres some timing information that i hadnt heard elesewhere: "Most of the flu samples, 3,747, were sent starting last year... The last shipments were sent out in February... "
'starting last year' isnt very specific - apart from the virus has been out there for *at least* 5 months... LINK

* "The alarm was raised on March 26... on Friday April 8, the virus (was traced to)to the test kit... The WHO then notified the health authorities in all countries that received the kits and recommended that all the samples be destroyed immediately." LINK
go figger. blinky signed his bill the friday after the discovery, and a week before WHO made the announcement...

* fauxnews is helpfully informing us that some of the flu virus was sent to the middle east - altho i havent seen that in the press
