"You will die too George W Bush real Soon"

AMDOM
* blinky: "You can pretty much find out what you want in polls is my point." LINK
ummm - including a mandate?

* the minutemen thing is hysterical. im not sure ive mentioned it before. hannity did a piece with one of the vigilantes giving a man a bowl of weeties thru the border fence. luv it!

* in other news, didja hear that zelikow has been re-hired by the anti.c.rice? (and lets not forget that zelikow and condi wrote a book together b4 he was appointed to 911comm

* "Porter J. Goss, the director of central intelligence, has ordered an internal review to resolve conflicting claims about why the Central Intelligence Agency did not do more to raise doubts about an Iraqi defector known as Curveball after the German intelligence service questioned his credibility... The review is likely to focus on the agency's directorate of operations, its clandestine service, and will try to establish who knew, and when, that Curveball's claims were regarded as suspect, and what they did with that information." LINK
hmmmmm, more wasted $$$$. how bout we just call the OSP. put em all under oath. simple.

* "The GOP threatens nuclear option -- breaking the rules of the Senate to eliminate filibusters only for judicial nominees. The Democrats say, "if you do that, we'll bring everything to a grinding halt. But, as an alternative, if you want to schedule a proper vote to eliminate all filibusters starting on January 1, 2009, we'll happily agree to such a resolution and avoid a big nasty fight." Then we'd have to see what the Republicans counteroffer." LINK
this is a stupid position to take for the dems. stupid stupid. what happens when the repugs steal the next election? and the next?

* "The weekly PBS series "Tucker Carlson: Unfiltered" will end its run after one year in June... The conservative commentator's upcoming nightly series on MSNBC and his relocation to New York made it impossible to continue" LINK
g: do u have any update on that dinner w/ tucker??

* "New York Times foreign correspondent Susan Sachs, who lost her job for allegedly sending anonymous e-mails to the wives of Times reporters in Baghdad commenting on their sexual behavior, contends she is innocent and will fight the charges against her." LINK
this story is completely odd

* there are a few stories that have bubbled to the surface that i noticed recently but dont think i mentioned. ron has the details on two 16 year old darkie chicks who mentioned suicide in a diary, and have been jailed as potential suicide bombers. brian mayfield will probably get blamed.

* another story that that john picked up is that the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation has been investing in rare coins. the 'investment' may or may not have anything to do with the fact that the coin dealer is GOP folk. idiot blackwell calls it 'diversification.' ( i spent a week in ohio once for that stanford gifted kids thingy - i got taken to sports bars every night by creepy divorced religious women)

* "Conservative leaders meeting in Washington yesterday for a discussion of "Remedies to Judicial Tyranny" decided that Kennedy, a Ronald Reagan appointee, should be impeached, or worse... "We are in this mess because we have the wrong people as judges.""
LINK go read

* pharmacists can withold birth control pills if they disagree with unwanted pregnancies. i wonder if they'll refuse to sell nicotine patches if they dont like smoking.

* cornyn is gonna be on foxnewssunday - i bet cwallace tears him to pieces fior being such an ass. or not. the god brigade are on wolfblitzer. (in a brand new development, it seems that there isnt anyone doing multiple appearances) LINK

* "Spitzer will meet Berkshire Hathaway Chairman Warren Buffet on Monday as part of the insurance probe." LINK
btw - buffet is in trouble here in oz for his role in a $5bn corporate collapse (FAI)

* btw - the fetusfolk trying to allow pharmacists to ignore their clients (first, do no harm) is called "Pharmacist for Life" - perhaps we should set up a group called "Judges for Life" - geddit. (cheney said "There’s a reason why judges get lifetime appointments.”")

* "Terri Schiavo, the shy woman whose self-image issues put her in a 15-year coma, died of embarrassment Thursday" LINK

* "While the dominionists rely on grass-roots activists to fight their battles, they are backed by some of America's richest entrepreneurs. Amway founder Rich DeVos, a Kennedy ally who's the leading Republican contender for governor of Michigan, has tossed more than $5 million into the collection plate. Jean Case, wife of former AOL chief Steve Case -- whose fortune was made largely on sex-chat rooms -- has donated $8 million. And Tom Monaghan, founder of Domino's Pizza, is a major source of cash for Focus on the Family, a megaministry working with Kennedy to eliminate all public schools." LINK
i didnt know that Case was a crazy. connect the dots - goodsoldier powell was on the AOL board. goodsoldiers son was head of the fcc...

* "How high on the list of national priorities for the American people do you figure disciplining the federal judiciary is? Higher than the economy? Terrorism? Health care? Iraq? Social Security? Long-term care? Road quality?" LINK
and yet...

* "The Rev. Terry Fox of Wichita, one of the primary supporters of the same-sex marriage ban, said Christians have been energized by the debate over same-sex marriage and they are eager to flex their political muscles... Next in his sights, he said, is "keeping an eye on evolution and abortion clinics."" LINK
i hope he's watching something with a really short life-cycle. or maybe science can prolong his live indefinitely

* in other news, "Arthur J. Finkelstein, a prominent Republican consultant who has directed a series of hard-edged political campaigns to elect conservatives in the United States and Israel over the last 25 years, said Friday that he had married his male partner in a civil ceremony at his home in Massachusetts."
as shakespeares sister points out, the nyt says "Mr. Finkelstein lived with his partner and two children", but doesnt mention that they are both the adopted parents of the kids.

* meanwhile, the fetusfolk wanna legislate against allowing fags near kids cos "it gives an opportunity for pedophilia to take place". LINK
ftr - one of the first attacks on gays here was banning them from adopting kids from overseas cos there arent enough orphans to go around for the straight community (i heard this discussion on the floor of the parliament when i was in my car and nearly crashed).

* more meanwhile, the #1 article at the nyt is so homophobic that i could barely read it (besides, my jaw hurt when it hit the ground). i think it sez that men cant eat dinner together unless they eat a meat product. nor can they go to MoMA together. in newyork! what would the general public say??? apparently its ok if your friend is from outta town, cos JoePublic apparently knows where you and your buddy reside. astonishing.

* the DeLay defense strategy, proudly on DispLay by the DeLay defense team: "The Republicans said the strategy combines leaks from DeLay allies about questionable Democratic trips and financial matters; denunciations of unfavorable news stories as biased, orchestrated rehashes; and swift, organized responses to journalists' inquiries." LINK
go read it - it is hysterical.

* "Mailing a letter to the White House supporting President Bush's death at the hands of terrorists is not illegal... "You will die too George W Bush real Soon they Promised That you would Long Live Bin Laden." " LINK
get yer pens out... Dear Blinky...

* the dailyshow has finally got a reasonable slot here - sundays at 530 on cnn. its the weekly "global edition" - which is a bit odd - but better than nuthin. and it doesnt clash with the football anymore (it used to be on at 2am).

* "DeLay said that he had received Lautenberg's letter with a "combination of confusion and regret," and asserted that none of his remarks were "threatening, irresponsible, dangerous, inappropriate, intimidating or reckless... Lautenberg cited DeLay made in the Washington Post in September 1997: "The judges need to be intimidated," the Sugarland Republican told the Post. "If they don't behave, "we're going to go after them in a big way."" LINK
