a bunch of empty Coke bottles

WAR STUFF
* "A wave of violence has engulfed Iraq with bombs killing at least 60 Iraqis and six US soldiers in a wave of attacks following the formation of a new government after three months of wrangling. The streets of Baghdad were largely empty yesterday morning after 17 bombs had exploded across Iraq the previous day." LINK highlights include: - " Saddam Hussein himself was a weapon of mass destruction" -" I think there is mounting evidence, indirect evidence, that on the eve of the war, there was, if not an actual weapon of mass destruction, there were plans; there were documents; there were samples of these weapons of mass destruction. And there were reliable reports that a lot of lorries, weapons and documents had crossed the borders... Well, they were loaded. And the reliable reports have pointed, as you have mentioned in the report and in your question, heading toward the west." -"The standard of living in this country is much higher than before. People are living in freedom, and they are enjoying this new Iraq, Wolf." * its difficult to keep up with the news in iraq. there are bombs going off everywhere... im not sure if its and upsurge or an uptick. i think it depends which media im consuming. lest we forget. * still no news about the SACS letter to rice. i guess there's no reason to have a plan to try to stop the death and destruction - cos "'we're winning"

* "The federal judge overseeing the prosecution of admitted al Qaeda operative Zacarias Moussaoui has blocked an attempt by the Justice Department's inspector general to release a report on FBI missteps prior to the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, according to a ruling unsealed yesterday." LINK

* "The U.S. Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld paid a secret visit to former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein and offered him freedom and a possible return to public life if he made a televised request to rebel groups for a ceasefire with allied forces, a media report said." LINK
ive read this in a couple of places... i have no comment.

* "He said: "Guys in my unit, particularly the younger guys, would drive by in their Humvee and shatter bottles over the heads of Iraqi civilians passing by. They'd keep a bunch of empty Coke bottles in the Humvee to break over people's heads."" LINK
are we winning yet?
