its not gay if you're married

BLINKY STUFF
* blinky's latet ruse: "younger people think it's more likely they're going to see a UFO than get a Social Security check." LINK
this is a standard technique of these creeps - they attribute some random thought to other people, which does two things - first it enables him to say it, and then it becomes circularly referential (ie push-polling) and it distances him from the statement - we saw the same thing re the SOTU 16words nigeranium "british intelligence says..." - similarly he says "I think if we keep talking about this the Congress is going to say, Oops, people like Cynthia know we got a problem and they expect us to get something done." - whether there actually is a problem or not is completely irrelevant.

* " A Dutch judge has ruled that US President George W. Bush can visit the Netherlands as planned this weekend and should not be arrested." LINK
grrrr. this is a country that beleives in gay marriage, pot, and science, and they still cant arrest him.

* msmalkintent: "Which brings me to Mrs. Bush. She demonstrated at the celebrity-studded White House Correspondents' Dinner this weekend that you can entertain without being profane. Most of her humor was just right: Edgy but not over the edge. But her off-color stripper and horse jokes crossed the line." LINK
only a wingnut could complain about wanking horses whilkst simultaneously saying that stepford wasnt profane.

* remember from sotu how stepfordbush was gonna save us from all those gangs? maybe thats where she got her potty mouth?

FETUSFREAK STUFF
* " Spokane WA, Republican, homophobe, Mayor Jim West has been using his office to lure boys... For a quarter century, the man who is now Spokane's mayor has used positions of public trust – as a sheriff's deputy, Boy Scout leader and powerful politician – to develop sexual relationships with boys and young men." LINK
i never tire of repug-outing stories - altho i prefer it when they are married. are boyscouters beter or worse than priests?

* update: "West was married for five years in the 1990s, but there were rumors that he dated young men on the side."... "West fought pro-gay legislation during his two decades of service in the state Legislature"... "I don't want to go into the whole issue, but I wouldn't characterize me as 'gay.'"

* the guy who asked Coulter about guys ass-fucking their wives writes a response. LINK

* so here i was watching "The Christian Right and the Rising Power of the Evangelical Political Movement" on demnow, and i bump into this story online: "East Waynesville Baptist Church has just kicked out all its Democratic members.
Yes. You read that right. If you didn't vote for Bush, you had to "repent your sin". LINK
funny, except... not kidding

* "According to the American Religious Identification Survey, Americans who answer "none" when asked to identify their religion numbered 29.4 million in 2001" LINK
good heavens (sic) - thats only 10%. no wonder we are in so much trouble. ftr, this refernce comes from george will who thinks its really cool that the number is so high and it has doubled in 15 years.

* " The Food and Drug Administration is about to implement new rules recommending that any man who has engaged in homosexual sex in the previous five years be barred from serving as an anonymous sperm donor." LINK

* david brooks almost writes a piece that actually ends up (tortuous journey notwithstanding) somewhere unstupid: " while the evangelical tradition is deeply consistent with the American creed, sometimes evangelical causes can overflow the banks defined by our founding documents. I believe the social conservatives' attempt to end the judicial filibuster is one of these cases." LINK
(of course, its the fetusfreaks, not social conservatives, who wanna go nucular.)
the interesting thing is whether they are trying to backpedal on nucularism.
