likely damaged by fighting among rival groups

WAR STUFF
* we just killed alqaeda's #3? again!

* "Associated Press Television News footage showed Qaim residents on Friday clearing the heavily damaged Saghir al-Rawi Mosque, which they claimed was hit in a recent U.S. strike.
"What kind of an act is that?" asked one angry resident as he pulled a copy of the Quran, the Muslim holy book, from under the rubble.
But (U.S. military spokesman Capt. Jeffrey Pool) said it was more likely damaged by fighting among rival groups of gunmen." LINK
please.make.it.stop.

* AP: "Qaim's hospital was also damaged in shelling. Doctors tended to bloodied young men at a makeshift facility set up in a private home Friday. The victims said a rocket slammed into them as they were standing on a bridge over the Euphrates River, killing two and wounding six. They did not say what they were doing on the bridge." LINK
fuk i hate the AP. the iraqis also failed to mention whether they beat their wives/husbands.

* apparently there are still 100 dead iraqis in OperationMatador - this after 4 heavy days of fighting since the deadcount was apparently 100.

* "The Army, faced with a severe and growing shortage of recruits, began offering 15-month active-duty enlistments nationwide Thursday, the shortest tours ever." LINK
thats the headline - meanwhile, once you have finished, you then "serve two years in the Reserve or National Guard." and of course, the stop-losses also continue. bastards.

* "Maj. Gen. Michael Rochelle, the head of the Army Recruiting Command, projected the service will have only half the number of recruits ready for 2006 than it did this year, when it had an unusually low number of recruits signed up in advance." LINK
take note - thats half of a low number.

* "Many of the depredations of the last four-plus years – from the war in Iraq and the collapse of America’s image abroad to assaults on the teaching of evolution and inaction on the looming global-warming crisis – can only be understood by factoring in the Right’s powerful propaganda apparatus and the mainstream media’s complicity."
