theres something odd in the franklin case that i havent seen discussed anywhere.
i cant find a list of all the secret documents he had at his home (there were 85 dox spanning 35 years) - but heres 6 of em:
-Terrorist Threat Integration Center, terrorism situation report – top secret/sensitive compartmented information (SCI), dated June 8, 2004.
-Central Intelligence Agency document concerning Al-Qaida – top secret/SCI, dated June 9, 2004.
-CIA document concerning Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaida – secret/SCI, dated Oct. 7, 2003.
-CIA document concerning Al-Qaida – secret, dated May 12, 2004.
-CIA memorandum on Iraq – secret, dated June 4, 2004.
-CIA defense executive intelligence view concerning terrorists – secret, dated June 10, 2004.
the interesting thing here is the timing - cos the franklin/aipac lunch was june 03, but the raid on his home & office was june30, 04 - ie the documents were really recent.
we can assume for the minute that he didnt take this stuff home for light reading, (and lets assume for simplicity that he had legitimate access to all of the documents at work) given that it was illegal - so lets presume he had the documents for nefarious reasons.
remember, the fbi had been watching franklin for a full year, so they knew what he was up to, but it was not long after he took these early june documents that the fbi decided to arrest him. given that intelligence information has time value, its not difficult to imagine that franklin gave these documents to someone soon after he took them home - if thats the case, then the fbi probably watched him do it. i wonder who the recipient was?
this case has legs like a centipede :-)
