sure - opportunity costs and all that. all the bloggers are grumpy that he indulges in some serious revisionism - which is valid of course.

but the thing that strikes me as more important is that here we have head-neocon stretching to justify his war as 'worth it', and not really making a good case. and more than that, its quite apparent that he doesnt even really believe that it was worth it - not on its face, and not necessarily even once you include his version of the opportunity costs. and if thats true, then it casts some serious doubt on the rest of the pnac agenda being rolled out.

also interesting is that he doesnt even mention democracy within iraq, nor the
freedom-colored-dominoes nonsense. his only equation seems to be 'ok the war is going bad, but we may have had to go to war at a later date'
