more like the ira or eta than alq

early thoughts on london:

the beeb has just reported that 'arab watchers' are saying its almost certainly alq.

the attacks seem to be largely symbolic - rather than an attempt to kill a lot of people - the beeb is reporting that only a few people have been killed.

we've all been on those trains and buses, if they wanted to kill a lot of people, it'd be pretty fucking easy. in iraq, and new york, and madrid they've shown that they can kill scores of people at a time if they wanted. it'd be more difficult to set off 6 bombs and not hurt many people than setting off bombs and hurting them.

there is also a lot of speculation that its related to the olympics - my guess is that is bollox. it'd presumably take a while to plan something like this, and it seems that no-one really thought that london would win until the actual announcement.

the death toll may increase - but it doesnt seem like the number will get into the scores.

for the moment, im tempted to think its more like the ira or eta (or someone else - maybe g8 related?) than alq.
