scotus nominations

further to my Hell Yeah post, the dems really need to get further ahead of the curve by publicly announcing an 'including, but not limited to' list of folks who simply arent acceptable as scotus nominations. (by dems, i dont care whether it comes from firebrand howard dean or from the senate dems or whatever)

they say hope that blinky will consult in advance, but they should just come out and say that if blinky nominates any of the following x people, its obvious that he hasnt discussed it with them. draw a line in the sand and all that.

this approach has the added advantage that the dems arent left being forced to choose some lesser-evil out of a subset of bush's nominations. many of the names being tossed around are simply unacceptable in absolute terms - harry reid should come out and name them explicitly. if blinky then turns around and nominates any of them, then the dems will begin the game with an advantage that they wont otherwise have.

oh, and btw, that list should include the AG. im not sure what reid had in mind when he suggested that gonzales might be acceptable, despite the fact that idiot biden 'loves him'.

maybe conyers could release the list - im sure he wont want gonzales on the court when he is chairman of the judiciary committee next year...
