* "The U.S. government’s National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) announced this week that the number of worldwide terrorist attacks that occurred in 2004 was 3,192. This number is almost five times higher than the figure of 651 “significant” attacks that NCTC released on April 27 of this year, after the administration received widespread criticism for attempting to hide a major increase in terrorist incidents by dropping the data from the State Department’s 2004 report on global terrorism. * "While other reporters have resolved to be imprisoned to protect their sources—whether these sources deserve protection or not—what has Novak done? The obvious answer: He has squealed... Miller is in prison to protect a right that Novak appears to have finagled." LINK

* "Yesterday, McClellan held a press conference and no one asked him about Karl Rove’s role in outing undercover CIA operative Valerie Plame.
In fact, no member of the White House press corps has asked McClellan about Rove’s role in the Plame outing since his lawyer admitted on Saturday that Rove was one of Matt Cooper’s sources." LINK

josh doesnt think that necessarily a bad thing: "Perhaps another way to put this is that I think it would be much easier for President Bush to push through one hard-right nominee now and another next spring or next summer than it will be for him to push twice at once." LINK
* fauxnews: 'on 911, 3000 people died, in madrid it was 200, today, just 40 - that just shows that alq is getting weaker'
* "And the New York Times could answer some questions. For instance, have they contacted Miller's source and asked for an explicit waiver of confidentiality -- and been denied? That would be good to know. And if so, might that not properly put the pressure back on the White House, where it belongs? Wouldn't the Times be happier if the source came forward? Or is it in their interests to turn Miller into a martyr?" LINK
* ftr, i had fauxnews on in the background and i dont even know what story they were discussing but the host (c matthews?) threw to robert koehler and then shut him down before he could open his mouth - i noticed it cos it was so blatant. if i get a sec later ill try to chase it up - newshounds might have covered it. koehler is famous in some circles cos he is the tribune media columnist who wrote those slamming articles in may about the stolen election, only to find that his columns didnt get syndicated - theres probably a story in there why matthews (?) shut him down. so little time...
