* "The former Met police chief (Lord Stevens) who brought in the so-called "shoot-to-kill" policy against suspected suicide bombers has defended the tactic.
"We are living in unique times of unique evil, at war with an enemy of unspeakable brutality, and I have no doubt that now, more than ever, the principle is right despite the chance, tragically, of error.
"And it would be a huge mistake for anyone to even consider rescinding it."" (link)
the good news is that, as far as i can tell, this is the first time the shoot2kill policy has made an error. the bad news is that i havent heard of any successes.
apparently the 11th commandment of freedom bringers is "thou shalt not consider..."
* i was watching some oz nwes on the teeve for a change - of course, australia now wants a national ID card and cctvs everywhere - in any case, they were interviewing some muslim guy about the 'london' threat here (stoopid racist white australians wanna throw muslims out of the country) - in any case, so they were interviewing this guy in a set piece in his office, and then, completely gratuitously, in the middle of the interview, they flipped the image to a silhouette profile like he was a terrorist talking on the condition of anonymity for 10 or 15 seconds, and then back again. it was so appalling.
