set off by mobile phone alarms

from this Guardian article

* "The release of information by the New York police chief that suggested the July 7 bombs were made from household materials and set off by mobile phone alarms was "unsanctioned", Scotland Yard sources said yesterday."

remember all those geniuses who kept saying that cell phones werent used becuase cell phones dont work in the Tube?
remember the MET's saying that they must have been suiciders because no timing devices could be found - and i scoffed at them because they couldnt find any remnants of cell phones amongst the carnage? lies, all of it, lies.

* "According to Raymond Kelly, the bombs could have been made from household items such as hair bleach and citric acid. The New York chief of police said the bombs had initially been stored in a fridge at the home of one of the bombers in Leeds and transported in coolers in the boot of a car to Luton before being taken to London."

except they found 9 bombs, or 16, in the car without any cooler. how fucking hard can this stuff be?

i thought it was said at the outset that the explosive was TATP. whats the big surprize? from this any one with a chemistry background could work out how to make it. of course as TATP is the explosive of choice of "islamicists" what ever they are (NOT muslims obviously!) this might just have been a smear. whats wrong with these people any way? cant they get fertilizer?
