* "Larry Franklin revealed for the first time that he also gave classified information directly to an Israeli government official in Washington... The guilty plea and Franklin's account appeared to cast doubt on long-standing denials by Israeli officials that they engage in any intelligence activities in the United States." (link)
* and how about this as one of the weirder sentences to ever end a WaPo article: "The Defense Department suspended Franklin, who said in court that he works as a waiter and bartender and at a racetrack. He faces up to 25 years in prison at his sentencing Jan. 20." (link)
apparently espionage doesnt pay.
* heres the Sploid story that was on their front page yesterday: " Is America ready to impeach Bush?" (link)
* Robert Parry: "The separation of the Bush political machine from organized crime is often like the thin layer of rock between a seemingly ordinary surface and volcanic activity rumbling below. Sometimes, the lava spews forth and the illusion of normalcy is shattered.
In the weeks ahead, a dangerous eruption is again threatening to shake the Bush family’s image of legitimacy, as the pressure from intersecting scandals builds." (link)
* quick reminder, if the govt happens to pull the plug on blogger when the indictments come down, ill switch over to my backup - wotisitgood4.blogdrive.com. if you arent seeing any updates here tomorrow, you can check over there.
* a highlight from the server logs - someone in the philipines asked google: "What do you mean by impeachment?"
* not surprisingly, im not the only one with the little boy on xmas eve schtik. heres kos: "This makes me feel like the night before Christmas" - ill let you know if i come across anyone who is drawing analogies with drug-fueled dance parties.
* " (Reuters) - More than 19,000 Bosnian Serbs participated in the massacre at Srebrenica, Europe's worst atrocity since World War Two, a Bosnian government panel said on Tuesday." (link)
btw - this is perhaps one of the most under-reported stories of the year. these serbs were listed, by name, and the details have been given to the warcrimes tribunal - all 19,000 of them. ive been busy so i may have missed it - but this obviously has direct implications wrt iraq - specifically fallujah if you need an example. every amgrunt and britgrunt in iraq should be really fucking nervous. and every parent. and every child. and every spouse. and every recruiter.
