Polling on Impeachment. Impeach Bush.

heres the latest on the zogby/impeachment issue.

I have been working with donna to raise money to pay Zogby to ask the relevant questions about the impeachment of the president and the rest of the Mission Accomplices. (see here for recent background)

We've actually stepped it up a level and AfterDowningStreet.org has taken over the project. This is great news for a few reasons:
1) we will get much more press coverage
2) we will be able to raise much more money
3) we will be able to pay *all* of the polling companies to do impeachment surveys.

Yay.

The project is called "Polling on Impeachment" and AfterDowningStreet has set up a specific section of their site for the project.

The main blurb reads:
" Our purpose is to collect donations and use them to pay mainstream respected pollsters to include in their public opinion surveys questions about impeaching President Bush and related matters. Does the public favor an investigation into grounds for impeachment? Does a majority of the public want impeachment right away? What are the most popular reasons for wanting Bush impeached? What does the public think about various other proposals to hold accountable the architects of this war?"
Go read the rest of it, of course

Over at that link, you can also donate to the "Marginalized Majority Polling" fund and "tell us exactly what questions you would like to see asked."

We've had some internal discussions about how wide we should cast the net. My general sense is that we should try to keep the message as simple as possible for the moment - ie we should make it all about making a noise about impeaching Bush (and maybe Cheney). Once we get that conversation started, then all of the other conversations will necessarily follow. Our immediate goal is to begin the conversation - we can't impeach Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld and Rove and all the rest of them - that job is for Congress. All we can do is make sure that the media starts discussing the issue that is on the lips of at least half the American population (and most of the rest of the world!)

RawStory was supposed to announce the launch of this campaign, but it appears that they are a bit busy with all of the other scandals engulfing the whitehouse. They should have a story out later today, or tomorrow.

We also have a banner over there that you can put on your site, or add it to your email sig or whatever. spread it far and wide.

I want to thank Donna and David Swanson from AfterDowningStreet for helping take this issue further. And thanks to everyone who has already donated - all of those funds will be transferred directly to the "Marginalized Majority Polling" fund.
