yale penitentiary

* yale prides itself by its success in having graduates in certain institutions - perhaps they will soon include the federal penitentiary.

* josh: "Going into this mess Miller's reputation was already severely checkered and her journalistic judgment very much in question. And yet Sulzberger and Keller... staked the reputation of the Times itself on her and went along for this whole ride without even getting the most basic information from her about what had happened?
Simple poor judgment doesn't explain that for me. Something else is up." (link)

* brithume did a story on traitorgate and they said 'fitzgerald is known to be apolitical' or some such. wow! why would they say that?

* digby: "I predict that there will be no trials if Fitzgerald indicts. A public spectacle in which the possibility of someone spilling the beans about the Big WHIG Problem is much too risky. I think this will be plea bargained. " (link)

* "Reuters says indictments could come "as early as Wednesday"" (link)

*"Eight British soldiers killed during ambushes in Iraq were the victims of a highly sophisticated bomb first used by the IRA, The Independent on Sunday can reveal.
The soldiers, who were targeted by insurgents as they travelled through the country, died after being attacked with bombs triggered by infra-red beams. The bombs were developed by the IRA using technology passed on by the security services in a botched "sting" operation more than a decade ago.
This contradicts the British government's claims that Iran's Revolutionary Guard is helping Shia insurgents to make the devices." (link)
absolutely fucking brilliant.

* the newyorker has an IM chat with harriet miers, blogger. its pretty funny (link)

* "Who's now covering Saddam Hussein's trial for FOX News? Dan Senor" (link)
google should be embarassed.

* "Those of us in the U.S. remember numerous stories back in January about the expatriate Iraqis who were allowed to vote in the last Iraqi electio... But this time around, there haven't been any such stories. But nor have there been any stories in the Western press even mentioning that expatriates are not being allowed to vote this time." (link)
odd.
