the administration tinkers with truth

* knightridder joins the party of newspapers who actually call LIES when Blinky tells lies, in an article called "In challenging war's critics, administration tinkers with truth" - tinkering, lies, same thing.

on a separate issue, the article opens thusly:

"President Bush called Democratic critics of how he sold the Iraq war to the world "irresponsible" five times Thursday during a brief news conference in South Korea.

Bush said he agreed with Vice President Dick Cheney, who on
Wednesday had accused some unnamed senators who oppose the administration's Iraq war policy of lacking "backbone" and making "reprehensible charges" that Bush and his aides "purposely misled the American people on prewar intelligence.""

Cheney's speeach was apparently quite funny - but the point i wanted to make is that the repugs are really, really, really desperate - rolling out this nonsense now. The same charges have been around for 30 or more months, but they are finally in a position where they have to lash out at critics, screaming "Im Am Not A Crook". thankfully, it finally seems as though they have hit a point where people know that they ALWAYS lie - and every time they open their mouths, they simply reinforce it.

in my previous post, josh argued that it doesnt matter that they are lying (as per their logic), so long as their defenders have ANYTHING to say.
It appears as though we arent far away from the point where the Scotty'sd of the world would simply rather shut-up, than do any more damage.
