who killed vince foster?

* stirling newberry:
"The bottom of this is that the press is composed of sheeple spreading their cheeks for the covetted right wing audience. The right wing audience, you see, is the swing viewer. They can watch World Wide Wrestling Federation, NASCAR or many other things - news is only watched when it is entertaining. When they get to see nasty old men chanting "We are headed for victory in Iraq" and other affirmations of the far right wing paranoiac view of the Universe: Clinton (any of them - Bill, Hillary or Chelsea) killed Vince Foster, the Liberals run amok have destroyed education, the evil liberal media has lost Iraq because they have corrupteed our Precious Bodily Fluids. Walk through your local Borders book store, the front table will be crammed with right wing dementia, packaged and ready to be sold.

Politics is a coalition of the sane against the insane. A coalition that includes the insanity of the right wing must, it will be forced, to behave in insane ways. A media that catters to this must, it will be forced to, sell right wing insanity. The wake will be left wing paranoia - as people desperately scramble for explanations that make more sense than "The press will keep lying as long as the money keeps flowing in from Saudi Arabia and China to support our dotconomy." It really doesn't require anything beyond that.

In the early 1990's, as Mexico's economy floundered, the ruling Party flagrantly stole an election to keep power. Clinton bailed Mexico out - and Rubin made sure it would turn a profit. The bailout could have lead to a better Mexico - but it did not. Instead, the people of Mexico spent like water, not believing that they could make a difference, and instead, that it was time to live well while it was possible to do so. The problem with stealing elections is that people know, and those who steal them also know, and must bribe the public for support.

Those bribes cost money - in our case about 3 trillion dollars. That is real money that will have to be paid back. Corporate leaders know this - that is why they are profitizing revenue, knowing there will never be a better day to get out the door than today.

It can take a long time for the day of reckoning to arrive, and it will produce an explosion of false theories to why it arrived when it did. The skittishness over the budget from Washington, and the haste to reduce our presence in Iraq to a few fortified installations - should tell everyone the down payment is at hand."

so there!
