* kevin drum says: "Can I just say that I'd hate to be Julie Myers right now?" and i had a similar (but more general question) thought today - who thinks this is a good appointment, and what did they pay for it? is it simply 'normal' nepotism? or did QuagMyers do something specific to deserve this? her nomination came after michael brown got slammed and she's obviously not qualified - yet for some reason, the egadministration decided that it was worth taking the hit. they could have given her any number of great jobs for which she was underqualified, but they choose this one? which required either a senate confirmation or the embarrassment of a recess - yet they still went through with it. apparently they decided that the price was worth it. think about that.
