marriage is dangerous

* digby: "So...if you make the rightwing's mistake of taking Stein's writing as worthy of serious notice, then you are compelled to conclude he's even dumber than John Ashcroft. And that immediately creates a serious existential problem, because no one can be dumber than Ashcroft and breathe without medical assistance."

* knight ridder: " The word "impeachment" is popping up increasingly these days and not just off the lips of liberal activists spouting predictable bumper-sticker slogans... But a poll released last week by Zogby International showed 52 percent of American adults thought Congress should consider impeaching Bush if he wiretapped U.S. citizens without court approval" (link)
yay. that's us.

* "Judge Edward Cashman caved to public pressure, increasing the sentence he imposed on a sex offender from 60 days to 3 to 10 years." (link)
oh no.... that's about the worst thing i've heard all week.

* "Boulis was murdered just days before he was scheduled to testify in his divorce case -- testimony that could have uncovered Abramoff's fraudulent activities." (link)
this i didnt know. i wonder when republicans will learn that marriage is dangerous. neil bush got in trouble during his divorce, and it was scanlon's nearly-wife that brought the whole abramoff thing crashing down.

* clemons, before the palestinian election result: "The tension is that while few in "official corridors" of Israeli government would say this publicly, many of them privately told TWN that Israel expected and "could deal" with Hamas at 30%. One important Labor Party official told my colleagues and me though that one vote for Hamas beyond 30% and "all bets were off."" (link)

* Harold Meyerson: "Incompetence is not one of the seven deadly sins, and it's hardly the worst attribute that can be ascribed to George W. Bush. But it is this president's defining attribute." (link)
i disagree - but read the rest

* john kerry has written a new diary over at dkos: "Do I support a filibuster? The answer is yes."
