somehow mislaid

* "U.S. intel quickly figured (Curveball) was a “fabricator,” but a so-called burn notice about the source’s unreliability was somehow mislaid." (link)
i wish that i occasionally got mislaid. somehow. it sounds like fun.

* jane hamsher: "I know this will send the wonks into fits of hyperventilation about the interstate commerce clause, but I find it highly ironic that per the Supreme Court terminal patients can now end their lives but they can't smoke weed to make their pain more bearable." (link)

* zogby has posted a story (from a newspaper) about our poll on their website ( i think they normally only do that for their internal polls)

* "House Speaker Dennis Hastert of Illinois is pushing for an aggressive, if belated, overhaul of travel and lobbying rules—perhaps so far-reaching that it could be challenged in court as an abridgment of free speech, according to House G.O.P. strategists." (link)
ha ha ha. how's that for some priceless spin? (this is from sunday)

" In the system that House Republicans have set up, members of Congress rise to leadership positions in part because of their ability to raise campaign cash. Aspiring leaders, who are often so popular in their own districts that they don't even have opponents, still raise millions of dollars so that they can give the money to others in tough races. They often raise this money through fund raisers organized by major business groups, and many of the donors are lobbyists. The result is that it is difficult to find a member of Congress with the clout and experience to be majority leader who doesn't have extensive lobbying ties, as do Blunt and Boehner." (link)
i don't really understand the campaign financing game - but i assume the journo is talking about PACs that the 'critters then use to distribute money to other candidates. i still wanna know how they manage the accounting of donations that don't have their name on it - e.g. the $10k to the NRCC by abramoff 'for' Ney... surely those documents should be public (if they aren't) - they go straight to the heart of pay-to-play.
