questions for the president

* riffing off earlier posts about how abu gonzales specifically refers to a specific, single program, i wonder if these 'briefing sessions' that Jane Harman and whatsername Wilson and others are getting are similarly restricted to just one limited program, and are therefore entirely meaningless. (and this would also apply to the talkingpoint that the media reporting is largely incorrect)

* "Thanks to an error by a White House technician, the sound of what were supposed to be (Bush's) private remarks to G-O-P House members was relayed to the White House press corps.Bush made a brief public speech to lawmakers at their retreat on Maryland's Eastern Shore. " (link)
does anyone believe this nonsense?

* "Mr. Libby's lawyers have already suggested they will mount a defense in which they will not challenge the charge that he made misstatements about how he learned of Ms. Wilson's identity and whether he shared that information with reporters. They have said that any statements he made to investigators that might have been untrue were the result of his preoccupation with many serious matters of national security at the time." (link)
if only they were pre-occupied - they were running around chasing wilson like crazy - just ten days before they invaded iraq!

* evil vpotus: " I recognize that some have claimed the fight in Iraq is somehow a distraction from the war on terror. But that leaves me to wonder: Which part of the war on terror do they consider worth fighting? Even on the home front, where the attacks actually occurred, we're seeing attempts to undermine vital protections put in place after 9/11 to track our enemies and disrupt their plans." (link)

* froomkin asked his readers for some questions for Blinky - there are some rippers over there - 'parently journos can't ask reasonable questions. here's but one:
""President Bush, you are currently exhorting the Shiite majority (about 60 percent of Iraqis) to include the Sunni minority (about 20 percent) in the new government's structure and policies. Yet in the United States, where your best showing in an election was a minimal majority of 51 percent, you and your party have ignored and excluded Democrats whose percentage of the voting population is twice that of Iraq's Sunnis. Aren't you and the rest of the Republican leadership setting a bad example for inclusive democracy?" (link)
